Microsoft ClickOnce is a self-updating system. The software itself detects if an update is available without requiring specific priviliges from the Windows user account. Read more about Clickonce on this Microsoft webpage.

 

Where does ClickOnce install the software?

Microsoft ClickOnce installations installs the software in the Windows Users directory (C:\Users\Username\). Installation files are stored in this location: C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Apps\2.0. Additional files are stored here:C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Pointlogic.

 

What do I need to install using ClickOnce?

 

Microsoft ClickOnce is not available for Network installations

Microsoft ClickOnce is not available for Citrix

Microsoft ClickOnce is not available for Terminal Server (link)

 

What are the installation steps?

To start the ClickOnce installation simply click the button with the label 'clickonce'.

In case you are using Google Chrome a button will appear in the lower left corner of your browser.

"This type of file can harm your computer. Do you want to keep Commspoint....application anyway?"

Click on the button 'Keep' to continue the installation, the following button will appear:

Click on the button to see a message with the text "Verifying application requirements. This may take a few moments."
Followed by this screen:

Click on the button 'Install' to start the installation.

IE Internet Explorer

Internet Explorer will present you the 'Do you want to install this application' screen after clicking the 'clickonce' button:

Click on the 'Install' button to proceed with the download and installation:

Using Firefox you will see the following screen when you click the 'clickonce' button:

Click 'Save File' to continue. You will see the following screen in the top right corner of Firefox:

Click on the part where the application label is shown to start the download and installation:

Click on the 'Install' button to proceed with the download and installation.
